Towards the wind

This image was created in 5 days from scratch for the Nvidia NVArt March 2008 competition.

http://events.cgsociety.org/NVArt/02/index.php

The competition required to create a "fusion between architecture and landscape". I was inspired by greek "meteores" as well as other sources both real and fantastic.
"Imagine you've made a long journey, walked over an incommensurable distance through unfriendly places. And then you finally got there. The wind gets quieter, and you walk the final steps over the bridge, towards the fortresses and temples that still stand against the elements. You've arrived, you're safe."
The picture shows two dwelling complexes built on top of large rock formations, part villages, temples and fortresses at the same time. The image itself has been built using some form of "lego concept", being composed by a few pieces modified, retexturized, scaled and stretched in every way. As you can see, time constrains took some toll over the quality of both the render and the composition: The foreground is definitely lacking detail, and the mid left part of the image show some unresolved composition lines.

Rail haven

Hi guys, it's been a while since I posted anything on cgtalk, sorry about that... This image is the last from a personal project I've been working on. It's the story of a world in which men are nothing but small pieces of giant machines, a decaying society struggling for survival. The image depicts the harbor of a metropolis, where the sea no longer exists and has been replaced by an endless swamp covered by railroad tracks. Hope you like it.

Cold Christmas late evening

Very cheap image made as a greetings card for 2007-2008 holiday season.

I took 3d models from other scenes I'm currently working on, created a procedural snow and icy water and applied ontop of existing materials, and then added two lights. Steam and other blurry effects added in photoshop. I was so lazy and so in a hurry that I decided not to create some particles for snow but added it by hand afterwards instead.

All the 3d models come from my reel. (WIP as of 25.12.2007)

Landing

This was the final image of a tutorial created for coomercial texture-cds, and was the result of a few simple and easy steps to create seamless taxtures. The week before the deadline, Luisa died abruptly for an asma attack. She was probably the most important person in my life and definitely represented my entire family. I decided to finish the image never the less. A spaceship has landed into a new, unexplored world. I think it represents quite well both my own feelings and my toughts about death anyway.

Lost

This is an old story. It's a story of war and disillusion. The world has been completely covered with water, leaving behind only marsh and mud for the men to live in. Two cities survive and fight for the ownership of the remaining land. In this world, no roads, no other mean of travel remains other than steam trains and an ancient submerged network of tracks. In the picture, One small tender (the bigger ones are like moving fortesses) lies in the middle of nowhere, completely lost. On the left a few officers look around trying to find some landmark, other officers watch helpless. Meanwhile a few workers try to figure out a problem with the wheels.

Fantasy Plane - Cbrk 74, Anacardo (3D)

This was my first model completely made in 3dsmax, it's a low poly model created for animation.

This is the back view. The red dots you see are the lights of the visual communication system (like morse) used in formation flight. Note that the plane has three points of suspension: the carriage in the center and two wheels on the tip of the vertical planes. The two wheels are fixed while the main carriage is steerable.

Here are the main views of the plane. I've tilted one of the engines and the ailerons of the main wings to show what I meant for "rotating engine". Note that the version you see has only fuel tanks and not bombs.
